Superyacht Officer Path
The officer route is for those who want to move onto the bridge and take responsibility for navigation, safety and the deck team. This path is more demanding than entry-level deckhand roles, but it also offers more responsibility, stability and long-term progression. The main road to be a Captain!
What does an officer do?

Stands watch on the bridge
Leads and organises the deck team
PAPERWORK & ONBOARD OPERATIONS
What do you need to get started?
- Solid deck experience – usually several seasons as deckhand/bosun
- STCW Basic Safety Training and ENG1 (or equivalent)
Good level of spoken and written English - The correct licence track for your flag and yacht size
e.g. Yachtmaster Offshore/ Ocean leading towards OOW (Yachts), or equivalent - A clean attitude towards safety, leadership and responsibility
